Welcome to Host Family Accommodation in Ireland

A little information about Dublin

Dublin is divided by the river Liffey. Localities to the north of the Liffey have uneven postal numbers, with the north city centre being Dublin 1. Localities south of the river have even numbers, with the south city centre being Dublin 2. Traditionally Dublin 1 was the commercial centre, and Dublin 2 the professional centre. In recent years apartments have been built in these areas. However, these apartments are not conducive to family life and it would be very unusual to find a family offering guest accommodation so close to the centre. Most families live outside the centre, and the daily commute into the centre by bus, train or tram is part of life for most Dubliners. Usually the lower the postal number, the closer the area is to the centre, with areas having no postal number and being referred to as County Dublin (Co Dublin) being the furthest away from the centre. But there are exceptions, especially along the south Dublin coast, where areas like Blackrock, which is almost within walking distance of the centre, have no postal number and are referred to as Co Dublin.
